Touchpal dialer solved the big one, so that's one problem down.

For anybody who is considering this, it works great. Just be extra careful. Any time you start messing around with rooting and ROMs, there's a chance you'll brick your phone. Because there are so many steps to this process, there are a lot of chances to brick. Just go very carefully...

Don't you think that buying a 3rd party app for text messaging is a bit ridiculous? It seems to me that we should expect the built-in app to do it's job.

I was just logging in to ask about the same problem. I've only had my shift for a couple of weeks, and I was wondering if it was a bug or if it was me. The only solution I've found (other than scrolling down, which can take a long time in a conversation with 1000 messages) is to hit the back...

I've only had the shift (my first android phone) for about a week, but I had the same problem and the solution for me was simply to to tap on it once it said "Paired but not connected."

I'll have to check out wave launcher. The two things I'll really miss are notifications that can be swiped away individually and card style multi-tasking.
