Sorry, I did some digging, and yes, this is indeed the real deal. It looks so much like the China "shan zhai" quality phone though - downgrade HTC One design and quality to such level. I guess whatever it takes for HTC just to stay within the Chinese market.

Turn off background sync for G+ (but keep the others on, incl. Play which needs background sync for it to work) will stop the problem for now until next update.

Yes, same for me too. Guess spoke too early~ Oh well, keep G+ background sync off will stop it for now - until G+ comes up with another bug-fix update.
