If you go into the Phone App and then go into settings, there's a category called Answering and Ending calls. There are 2 settings within for auto-answering calls. Try turning them off. I used to have similar problems until I did that.

On both my my Samsung and my Pixel, I only have to swipe first when I've powered the phone off and the on or if I've not touched one of the devices for a few days

How many Edge panels are you running? I found that they were slowing it down. Even when I was only running like 3 of them. I had also read somewhere that even though they were a feature of the phone, it did create lag. Between the lag and the Wi-Fi bug, I ended up getting a Pixel XL.
