I went to the Swype website and found a fix that seems to be working: "Have you tried disabling anything that syncs the dictionary, disabling usage reporting and living dictionaries and cellular data?" Swype settings/Swype Connect/uncheck everything. Works like a charm now. Whew.

That's what I'm thinking. I've never done one before but I'm sure there's a thread that explains it?

I installed swiftkey after Swype stopped working, but I don't like it as much as Swype. Nothing is working and now the entire phone locks up. It's getting worse.
