Quick questions about rooting, Kit Kat, the entitlement check and Factory Reset

My friend asked me a couple of questions concerning her Droid Maxx I couldn't answer so I thought I'd ask the Moto X owners. She has a Droid Maxx that's still running on Jelly Bean but will soon be upgraded to Kit Kat.

Here are her questions:

1. If she roots her Maxx and performs the entitlement check and then un-roots the Maxx for an OTA Kit Kat upgrade, will the entitlement check change stay in place?
2. If she preforms a Factory Reset before the OTA Kit Kat upgrade (as some people suggest before a major OTA upgrade) will the entitlement check change stay in place?

Based on what I've read here in the Moto X forum I get the impression that the entitlement check change remains in place after the OTA Kit Kat upgrade but I wasn't 100% certain. I'm guessing the that the entitlement check change is reversed during a Factory Reset but that's just a guess. Since the Moto X owners have already had the Kit Kat upgrade I figured this would be the best place to ask the question.
