Huge Data Drain

So I've used over 4GB of data this month since getting my Droid Maxx. I normally used well under 1GB of data when I had my GNex. I'm using my phone the same as before, so I have no idea what is going on. It looks like the 2 programs killing me have been Friendcaster (I use only to sync profile pictures to friend's numbers) and Google Play Services. I know how to limit Friendcaster...uninstalling it. Does anyone have an idea why Google Play Servies is draining my data? It pulled about 250MB in data today alone and the only thing I did was check my email a few times. Thanks for any help.

Not sure if Google play services could be because u might have auto sync or auto update on?

Set it so that it doesn't automatically update apps.

I also use this app to keep track of all data usage as well
