Maxx Update Today

I woke up this morning (2nd of June) to find a software update for my Maxx. Any ideas? Phone is now saying version 24.13.2

Re: Maxx Update Today

It fixes an emergency dialing problem with encrypted phones. If you restart an encrypted phone, it asks for your PIN or password before it fully boots, to decrypt storage. However, there is also an emergency call button on the password screen. Prior to the update, if you made an emergency call, you could hear the dispatcher but the dispatcher could not hear you. This update fixed that.

So, yes, about as rare a problem as you can have.

Version numbers:

24.13.2.obake-maxx_verizon.Verizon.en.US - system version
4.4.4 - Android version
MSM8960PRO_BP_23255.132.81.00R - Baseband version
3.4.42-gdb5a4c6 hudsoncm@ilclbld32 #1 Thu Apr 30 20:40:19 CDT 2015 - kernel version
Thu Apr 30 20:40:19 CDT 2015 - Build date
SU6-7.2 - Build number

Baseband is the same as before, the kernel is really the same - everything after 3.4.42 is different, but seems to be a code for the compilation or something.

Re: Maxx Update Today

Before the update, my maxx kept popping up a message saying my phone was too hot for use. Also the phone would spontaneously shut down. The message would come up 20+ times a day and the shut down would happen 3+ times a day. Since the update I haven't had either issue. Still early so I'll update if that changes.

Updates do a cache wipe and rebuild dalvik cache for your apps so maybe it was fixed by that.

Re: Maxx Update Today

I wish. The problem is back so I guess I'll have to get a new phone. The maxx was great the first year it was out. Since then it's been a piece of ****. I had such high hopes when this phone came out with the moto x, but I'm definitely avoiding motorola from now on. Phone became trash, and customer service was inept and kept passing me around to other techs.

Re: Maxx Update Today

I like the Maxx, but the slow update for the turbo and the worrisome customer support I've read about - I'm the same. I doubt I'm sticking with Motorola this fall when I upgrade.

Have you tried a factory data reset yet, just to see if that fixes the problem?
