Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know of a cheap way to make and receive calls from my unrooted Droid X using WiFi instead of Verizon? Going to be staying at a mountain house that has wireless internet, but no cell service.

If there is a way to do this, I'd like to receive the calls from people dialing my normal mobile number. I have Google Voice, I use it for voicemail, never used it for sending/receiving calls - don't know if that might be my best bet? Someone suggested using Google Voice with Sipdroid, but said the calls had a delay.

Thank you again for any insight!

I've used google voice but it's tied to another phone number not something like a wifi connection.

Check out GrooveIP to see if its what you are looking for. There is. Thread for it in the applications forum.

Second GrooveIP. It does use your Google voice number but you can forward your Verizon number to it and it works well.

Another idea would be to have your Verizon number forward to your Google Voice number while you are up there. Essentially you would be receiving your Verizon calls over VOIP as long as you have the Google Voice app installed.

The "Skype Mobile" app won't use wifi, but there is another app just called Skype that will.

Dont use the bloatware Skype Mobile. Install Skype on the market(not the verizon app).
