Where are my contacts

Out of nowhere, only 4 of my contacts are showing up in the contacts app and in the phone app. I have over 200 and they are all synced and have been there since day one. Where did they go?!?!? Can someone help?

Interesting note: it seems that the only 4 contacts that are showing up are all of my GoogleTalk firends (i know, only 4, don't laugh). But that should help for someone trying to help me.

In brief: All of my contacts are gone except for contacts whom were also my GoogleTalk friends

try going to contacts, menu accounts, and turn sync off and then on again to try to force it to resync

How long have you had the phone? Was it Sync'd through google after your phone book transfer? Long into Gmail and check to make sure there still available and maybe delete your current gmail profile from the phone and reset it up.
