I have seen a lot of posts, and some site reviews worried about screen burn in with this Samsung AMOLED Display. What am I missing here. Samsung has had AMOLED on their flagship phones for years, and I don't recall anybody saying anything about burn in worries on these phones. Why is everyone freaking out about the N6P. This is a Samsung panel. Did they leave out the secret sauce or something?

Re: Burn In Question

Lies and exaggerations. I think that reviewer got a bad unit. As having the 'latest' Samsung AMOLED panel, there will be no widespread issues. (But of course that is what warranties are all about) If you choose to allow these reports to sway your decision NOT to buy... I'm sure those in line to order will gladly take your spot.

That's not an issue with me - I can't wait until it gets here. I was just wondering why some people are so worried about this.

Just because you haven't experienced it or it's not widespread doesn't mean it isn't an issue. This is coming from someone who's had all AMOLED phones except for two of them. My Galaxy S3 has permanent burn in, by that I mean only a screen replacement will solve it. And my Droid Maxx and Turbo both started to get it but I took measures to prevent it becoming permanent. What's curious is that my old Droid Incredible (1st gen) never had an issue with burn in, only subsequent models.

It seems (in my experience at least) that having the screen in the same orientation most of the time is a major contributor to burn in. I use my phone in landscape 95% of the time. I used to always put it in landscape by turning it counter clockwise (with the bottom on my phone on my right side). I have learned to start mixing it up and half the time turning it clockwise when using it in landscape mode, and that seems to prevent burn in becoming permanent. And before you ask, I do not keep the brightness at 100%, I usually keep it anywhere from 30%-50%, depending on the total brightness of the phone.

Head on over the android police and read their review of the 6p and in the display portion the reviewer said he was already seeing some slight screen burn in from the bottom nav bar and buttons! I thought since this is using the newest version of Samsung's amoled displays that screen burn in wasn't supposed to be an issue anymore.. How bad was screen burn in on the nexus 6? He says it was unusable on his nexus 6 ... This is worrisome

When I read that I got worried, I'm already expecting my n6p this would be a huge bummer

I've read or watched probably ten or twelve Nexus 6P reviews and the Android Police one is the only one that said anything at all about burn-in. They may just have a bad review unit (It happens, Andrew Martonik got a bum Nexus 5X if you listen to the last AC podcast.) I say let's wait and see if this is a real issue or not. It's too early to tell at this point.

I was thinking that, out of all the people who've been talking about it this is the first incident

AMOLED burn-in never went away. People just stopped talking about it because Samsung told them to stop talking about it.

FWIW, I run at 100% brightness and have no burn in. Everyone I have talked to with a review phone has no burn in.

My almost year old nexus 6 has no noticeable burn in and I'm not going to try looking for it. Burn in is inherent to amoled displays but doesn't mean it'll be an issue. I'm not worried at all and can't wait until my 6p arrives.

Same here. I've never had burn in on an amoled phone. Keep in mind they have all been samsung so they don't have on screen navigation bars but still, I've never had an issue with the status bar. I don't get how there can be burn in though...with amoled the pixels turn off completely when not in use so how can they burn in?

I've had burn in on a galaxy nexus that was pretty bad and on a moto x. It was very noticeable when watching a YouTube video that had a white background. You could see where the navigation buttons were and where the notification area bar was. It's not an issue when the screen is black, it shows up when the screen is grey or white.

You could probably describe it better by calling it screen wear than burn in.

I really want this phone but this possible problem has made me decide to wait until I read some user opinions and of course there is always the Moto X Style :)

The Style is awesome but I think the burn in thing is BS.

Do you, I do hope so :)

I must admit I do find it hard to believe that a screen can be launched on a popular new handset only to suffer from so called burn in within such a short space of time as surely there must have been many tests made by the company on multiple test units to check for this as this subject isn't something that has just come to light is it!

I've owned one Samsung and the Nexus One which did not have on screen navigation buttons. No burn in.

My guess is that there may be a few amoled screens that have defects that cause observable burn in, but I also suspect it isn't a large number.

nexus 6P burn in

So I'm hearing a lot of talk about this burn in and I'm not gonna lie I'm a bit worried, amoled screens are just a hit and miss at this point, some people have the issue others don't, I'm really hoping this won't be a huge issue. I'm already expecting this bad boy in the mail

I just read a review that mentioned screen burn after only a week. I guess I am somewhat concerned after that, but I have never had an issue in the past with my Samsung panels so maybe it will be fine?!
