Call screen does not work on every incoming call

I have the T-Mobile variant, I've noticed when I have an incoming call sometimes I cannot answer because the screen does not come on, but the phone is ringing. About every other call works. I can unlock the phone and after a few seconds the heads up for the call pops up but I've missed calls when that happens because they hang up or it goes to voicemail by the time I get the phone unlocked.

Anyone else seen this issue?

Unrooted stock T-Mobile.

did you change your dialer/phone app in any way? did you turn on any battery saving feature/app that would keep the phone from waking up immediately when a call comes in?

Nope to all. And later today I called myself from my computer using Google voice and I could not reproduce it so I've got no idea.

Try and use Google dialer instead. Make sure you set it as your default phone app in settings

Where do I get it? It doesn't come up in the play store for me.
