    As long as you are on Ubuntu 10+ or XP + or MAC or pretty much any latest version OS on the machine it will work without USB drivers needing to be installed as they are already there.

    If using windows 7 64-bit, download this file, unzip and install all applications included onto youre pc. Plug in phone via usb and it will install drivers and get usb debugging working again for you... LGVM670.zip

    I think the OP is talking about UMS, like having your phone act as an external hard drive. So you could plug it into the USB port of your car stereo for instance, and play music files from it.

    All of the gingerbread roms will require the drivers installed for USB mass storage to work. It's a known issue and has been around for over a year.
