Is the Xperia Play the first of many?

According to Sony, it appears that the Xperia Play is the first of many gaming smartphones. Is this a niche that can handle more than one good gaming phone or will the "Fragmentation" disrupt what Sony can make for games for these devices?

I think they will be having a playstation app that will be available for higher end phones.

So do you think that maybe it would be smarter to buy a higher spec'd (like the incredible S or Bionic) phone and aquire a bluetooth game pad later if you wanted instead of this? The phone seems like a nice option but if the only added feature it has is something that you can buy aftermarket for other phones, is this really worth it?
