So, as with a lot of you, I downloaded the APK file for my Amazon Kindle Fire (7" Gen 5) off the internet as I live in the UK.
I recently installed Google Play Services onto my Fire from a script and data cable.
I am aware that the device doesn't have a GPS receiver, but I expected more from Pokemon Go rather than to just dump me in the middle of an ocean, unable to choose my starter. I thought that it would be able to determine even a semi-inaccurate location using the latitude and longitude of my WiFi signal or however it works. At least that is what I have been told online.
I can confirm that Google Maps can track my location down to a couple of meters, and it really bugs me why Go can't do the same thing.
I have a Nexus 7 with a cracked screen that I might have to repair just for the GPS chip :/
