I got my new Razer Phone 2 with 9.0 pie installed. I downloaded an apk file for the Gcam. How do I install it? There is no longer an option to install from unknown sources. Clicking on the downloaded file in file manager does nothing. What am I missing. I've installed dozens of apks on other phones with no issues at all.

Nevermind. I just used Google Drive to re-download the apk and Drive has the option to install. I'll be getting a better file manager installed tomorrow.

Always install from Play. If there's more than one version of the app, Play will give you the right .apk for your device. If none of them will work with your device, Play won't show you the app.

(And downloading an .apk from anywhere else risks that the uploader installed malware in the payload first, so you get the app, but you also get malware.)

Very good points. Of course, the play store has been found to contain thousands of infected apps.

Some apps, like the popular Gcam Port are only available from unknown sources like apk mirror. I did download the apk file to computer first and ran it through 2 anti-virus programs and one malware program before downloading to my phone.

By the way, I just took a few pictures at the local park and the difference compared to the stock camera app is night and day.
