Is the notch a deal breaker?

Pixel 2xl owners! If the Pixel 3xl features the dreaded notch, will you upgrade? Or will you hold on to your current Pixel in protest?

I have the smaller Pixel 2; but I am considering sticking with the Pixel brand for a while. Some manufacturers do notches well; whereas others (iPhone) do not, in my opinion. LG and OnePlus have nicer notch designs than, say, the Essential Phone (though I don't mind that notch - it's just not my favourite); so I think it's not merely the notch in itself but also how it's designed that would sway or disuade me from buying a Pixel 3 XL with a notch.

Notches aren't my favourite "gimmicks" on a phone but again, it is how they're designed that would influence my choice.

It's not, we just have to get used to phones having one for a while. We can "protest" all we want but it won't change anything.

I'm hoping for a better camera if it's even possible lol.

I'd have to see the finished product and what upgrades over the Pixel 2 XL it offered, but generally speaking I do not like notches. The renders of the Pixel 3 I've seen are butt ugly.

They'd have to increase battery life and offer some new whiz-bang software experience to get me to buy the Pixel 3 as currently depicted.

It's the huge chin in combination with the notch of the 3 XL that's pissing me off.

Of course I detest the notch in and of itself anyway. The Pixel 3 might be the one to go for, but it's still bezeltastic.

Am keeping my 2 XL. It is on a 2 year contract so my upgrade will be the Pixel 4 XL. Skipping the 3, especially with that awful notch

Buy the phone for its functions, not the look. I don't think I'll need an upgrade from Pixel 2. Maybe skip a year unless Google will attract me again with their trade-in program.

I don't mind a minimal notch like on the Essential Phone. Would rather not have a much wider notch. If I stick with Pixel phones I'll probably go with the smaller Pixel 3 which has a much more appealing design.

Since there's the ability to hide it or blend it in it makes it bearable. Unlike the iPhoneX where it's always an eye sore.

Right now I still feel very negative about the notch. I had fully intended to get the Pixel 3 XL but if there's a notch, I'll be in full revaluation mode.

For the first time I'm considering doing an upgrade to the next year's phone (for the camera) ... but it will be the small Pixel 3 rather than the XL. Those XL's are just too tall, and next years will be even taller! I have small, arthritic hands, otherwise I'd be tempted, I'm sure. I've heard a lot of people say that the larger phones are easier on "Senior Eyesight", or lack thereof! (I don't give a rip about the notch OR chin.)

I will skip the 3, when P come out it will feel like a new phone again. Hoping to upgrade to a 5G phone from here.

The notch madness is not an issue for me either way...

After seeing the leaks, which more than likely is what it'll look like. I'll definitely be skipping the Pixel 3. When I feel like playing with Android P, I'll just use my Pixel 2 XL.

I'm more concerned about the all glass design. At this point we don't much else but without knowing it's a tough call on whether to upgrade. The dual front cams don't do anything for me and neither does wireless charging if we assume from the glass design it's included. We have a two year warranty on the 2 series so I can't think of anything worth upgrading for until we know more, but for me the notch doesn't kill it.

Yes. It's copying apple for the sake of copying. Looks stupid & really brings nothing useful to the table. Hopefully the trend will die real soon.

The notch isn't a "deal breaker" but I was happy to hear the Pixel 3 will most likely not have a notch. The Pixel 3 XL will. I go with the smaller Pixel.

I'm definitely going to pass if that is the screen size and what it looks like. just cause one company does a notch doesn't mean they all do. i liked the days when you had more choice I.e. Galaxy phones you could pick flat or curved screen. I hate curved screen phones I have a S9 plus an cannot stand the curves. Was looking forward to the pixel xl3 but definitely will not be getting anything like what is floating around. Phones have become stagnant with minimal upgrades year after year.
