Can I get some help with a text issue on my Samsung Gear S?

I just replaced my Gear with anew Samsung Gear S watch .Everything works fine except I don't get previews of texts. They do show up in my notifications but I don't get anything telling me that have a new message . Emails work and incoming calls work great. Does anyone any ideas ?
I have tried resetting the gear but no luck.

On mine there is a checkbox for preview of messages in the notification setttings

Do you have 'messaging' checked in the Gear Manager app on your phone? If not, you won't be notified of any messages.

If you DO have this checked, go to your settings in your Gear S, go to 'notifications' and make sure there's a check in the 'notifications' box. I use 'list view' and it works great for me.
