Battery Replacement

Has anyone bought a replacement battery and successfully installed it in the Note?

My battery life has started deteriorating. I used to get a good 8-10 hours, but now it's about 5-6 hours. I see the battery available on Amazon for about 65 bucks. The youtube videos , according to my husband, who has replaced laptop screens & keyboards, seem pretty easy to get this done

So, has anyone here accomplished this, and how much improvement did you see?

Thanks

Have you tried using a custom ROM such as hyperdrive, liquid smooth, cyanogenmod, or temasek? They all have much better battery life and are faster/more responsive. You can find them on XDA. There are also "team eos" builds, although they are not on XDA.

I'm a little leary about messing with custom ROMS. I really think it's just the battery. But thanks I'll keep that in mind.

@Dale_M , have you done this? My husband watched this video before, and from that feels its pretty easy. He has replaced keyboards, and screens, on laptops and phones before and is pretty good with hardware type things. Im the software person, so I would not attempt this.

Id love to hear from someone here who has done this, to see how it went, and how the new battery actually performs

Sorry no... BUT I did take back off tablet my tab becasue of my cracked screen problem and access to battery is pretty simple... Only thing I can see that might cause some difficulty is "carefully" unlatching the ribbon cables (for screen) that run across battery pack, they seem pretty delicate to me and unlatching them wrong could damage them...

ok Thanks.. duley noted. I'll tell him to be careful. But I trust him with this kinda stuff, for the most part ;)

The battery arrives tomorrow, so I'll update when I see how it goes. Just for safe keeping, Im saving all my personal stuff, pics, vids, docs, etc, to the MicroSD card, just in case ;)

Cant believe that no one here has done this. Guess I'm the guinea pig. Battery just arrived, waiting for hubby to come home from some errands to get it done. A little nervous with no feedback from anyone who has done this, but, oh well. Wish me luck :-D

Hope all went well! My Note 10.1 2014 is 18 mths old and still gives me 7 to 9 hrs SOC per charge BUT I am keen to know how easy the swap went.

Ok, the deed is done. Mostly pretty easy. Just need good dexterity and patience. The back cover was a bit tedious and tricky to manuever the little tool along the case, but eventually came off. The ribbon cables came off pretty easily. The screws are teeny tiny, smallest I've ever seen, but the teeny slightly magnetized screwdriver worked well. Disconnecting the battery cable took watching the video of that operation a few times, but was fine.

the small tense moment came when we put it all back together and went to boot up, and heard sound but no video. Panic mode. But we took the cover back off rechecked the seating of the battery and ribbon cables. Apparantly the ribbon cables are the video connectors. A bit of light pressure and one of them clicked. Replaced the back cover and it booted right up.

It had a 61% charge, but the video recommended a 2 hour charge before using.

I charged with it off for 2 hours and 20mins, booted up, now at 100%

Now let's see how it does. The instructions video was excellent as were the tools provided

Just to follow up. Tablet was at 100% at 3:45pm, at 11pm when I went to bed it was at 60%.

Today first full day of use. Turned on @ 7:30am, it is now almost 8:30am and at 93% ,so we shall see how the day progresses.

When my tablet was new I got a good 10 hours of battery life. , almost 2 years later, that went down to about 5 hours. I'm hoping this new battery bring me back to that 10 hour mark

After ordering this tablet last night.....it suddenly dawned on me.....oh my, did I just order a Samsung tablet that has no removable battery? I am so against that on my cell phone! So went online this morning and found the answer was non-removable and found the exact same video that was posted here. I am really happy to get the tablet as you know "dianehelen", but not to happy about the embedded battery.....so hoping mine holds up for a very long time.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you with replacing it yourself, and also in awe of you for doing it!! I would not look forward to having to do that.

No tablet has a user replaceable battery. And thanks, but I didn't physically do it, I sorta oversaw the project, my husband, who is good with stuff like that did it. I didnt really have to , I was still getting 5+ hours, of constant use. I'm on it pretty much all day. Also the ubreakifix places would do it for about $100 and that includes the battery. So IF you ever do want to replace it, you can get it done. Don't worry about that for now just enjoy your Note :-)

Thanks. I really didn't know that but should have realized about the battery. I tend to think long term especially when spending that kind of money. I just got notification that it will arrive tomorrow! Very excited

Is it really this easy? Both me and my wife are lucky to get 2.5 hours. Having to replace two batteries on such expensive tablets in a little over a year is frustrating. The video makes it look easy but then again it's an expensive piece of equipment. Thanks.

Battery from NewPower99 is overpriced, if you need battery, look on Ebay , they're only from $25 to $35 for OEM ones.
However, battery's quick discharge might be not from battery but bad battery connector, common seen in Samsung tablets.
Most samsung's rear cover can take out under 2 minutes if you know the right technique. If you have experienced problems of quick discharge, battery's capacity fluctuation, auto shutdown, auto reboot, intermittent power, the problem obvious is not from battery. Battery should last 1 to 2 years under normal usage.

I dont mind buying from amazon, I know their cust svc is great. My old battery was down to giving me 3-5 hours. My new, Newpower battery is giving me 7-9 like the original used to. Plus I opened an Amazon cc (3rd time I've done this in about 6 years) and got an instant $40 purchase credit. I'm happy
