Wanting to use one Android device as a monitor for another

My brother and I are starting a prank youtube channel. We'd like to use my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to film (hiding it in a backpack with small hole cut into it). Then we just need a small handheld portable monitor to be able to see what the Note 2 is filming. We have found two possible solutions but not sure if they'll work.

We'd like to use our other phone - an HTC One V, as the monitor but are unsure how to do this. We have learned about the tp link router or maybe a similar small portable router that we could plug into my Note 2, and then maybe there's an android app that we can download on the HTC One, so it can connect to the router's wifi and therefore see what the Note 2 is recording. We have found the DSLR Controller app but think that is just for cameras, not smartphones. Any ideas on how can we do this?

You can try using one of those "track my phone apps" like Cerberus or something else thats able to monitor the camera.
