I just got my Note 3 yesterday on Verizon. I'm very disappointed to see that Samsung dropped the low light photo setting for the Note 3. I used low light religiously indoors with my Note 2, and it took amazing photos.

The Note 3's photos look washed out like a 2011 Motorola. Very disappointing.

Sample & Settings would help :p
This is one of mine unedited & reduced to 25% ;)
Update: I took this photo at the same time with my Note 2 & the Note 3 is 10 times better! I had to take the Note 2 photo 3 times & still couldn't come close to the one & only shot with the Note 3!. I am a photographer & the camera is the main reason I bought the Note 3!

i too was a bit flummoxed by the lack of modes....night mode, low light mode, etc. i added exposure values settings to my shortcuts and thought i'd try adjusting for low light situations.....seems like its time to try an alternate camera app too....

And that's why you don't know how much better the Note 2's photos were. It's also why Samsung dropped the low light setting.

They're dumbing down their product to a stupid point and shoot. No low light. No macro. Reminds me of Apple.

I want to like the Note 3, but I'm pretty sure it's a joke. It's been Appled down for the masses.

EDIT: I just found an app called Night Camera which has really helped the photos.

This if from the Note 3 with Night Camera.

Never used the low light setting before & I just tried it out & the Note 2 photo is sharp now, but the color is greener than the Note 3. Here is a shot from the Note 2 with Low Light mode. Some people look at some of these changes as dumbing down, but I don't think it is! The way they were doing low light mode was dumb & changing the damn thing so it can handle situations like this without having to go through stupid motions to do them, I think is really smart!

There is a Night Mode... you just haven't taken the time to find it. Stop ranting and learn your new phone.

I just looked at the Exif & all specs are removed when you do the Low Light Mode on the Note 2 :( I never really did get into the camera on any phone until the Note 3 so excuse my ignorance of the matter :p

Yes. Smart Stabilization has been on for all my Note 3 photos.

But I've no beef now. The Night Camera app saved the Note 3 for me. I hope this thread helps others who were used to the quality of Note 2 with low light. I'm still disappointed that Samsung would drop these settings from their camera. Anyway, finding workarounds is part of the beauty of the Android OS.

After more experimenting, I can say that the Night Camera app works great for inanimate objects, but not well with portraits. The Note 3 beauty shot setting works very well for portraits - in some shots even better than the Note 2 on low light setting.
