$1300.

I think the smartphone world has gone crazy. When it comes down to it, we're talking about phones here.

I also think consumers in the USA don't really understand that by buying a phone at these prices (although carrier subsidized), they're essentially saying that's what the market is willing to pay.

Heck I could even stomach the price of the Note 7 since I really really liked that phone. Pixel XL and all these other 'premium in price only' wannabes need to stay on the bench.

Ridiculous.

Phones quit being a phone right when I was selling them at RadioShack, in 2008 when the iPhone and palm were battling it out with blackberry and people could suddenly watch porn anywhere on a brick that was mostly screen. Phones just play music in 10 tones and talk to people while these 1300$ trinkets are PDAs, a dead but apt term, and the mate seems to have all the cutting edge PDA bells and whistles. Except a pen and dice apparently, plus the 1080p LCD, no waterproofing, no Samsung pay, and no wireless charging leaves a bit to desired compared to the note... I always hope high prices will result in high R&D budgets though, and that someone has the money to buy them ;)

Is this really going to be 1300?? Way too much for any phone, even more than the iPhone 7 Plus 256gb! Not saying Huawei. is a bad brand, but it isn't one of the flagship brands. For a lower end name company LOL. This phone should be priced at no more than $800. Huawei isn't a high end brand name. This would be like taking a 2015 Mustang GT and putting a $80,000 price tag on it. Plus it's hard to find cases and such for Huawei.

When you think of the price of this you could buy the S8 Edge, AND also purchase a Tab S3 8.0 and likely will come to the same price or maybe slightly lower.

I don't want something like a Note, I want a Note. I'm willing to wait. My 7 Edge isn't the worst phone in the world so I'll be patient.

I've gone back to my Note4. There really is nothing on the market that competes with the Note7. Like a few others in here, I'll wait patiently for the next Note. Well, patiently is a bit of a stretch.

Oh man that's not cool at all! So so sorry. I always keep at least one spare phone, just in case.

I'll probably keep the Note4 forever though. It's just too awesome. I hope and pray you can get another one somehow.

I didn't like the edge 7 when I had while waiting on the 2nd Note7. It ran hot and Note7 was never an issue. I actually like the Note5 even if it has been out a yr

How could this phone possibly, in any universe, be worth $1,300? Could someone explain how it's so much better than its competitors that it could be worth that?

Some of it's competitors are the same price. For example iPhone 7 which has no Super AMOLED display, no QuadHD, no ppi improvement, no quick charge, no wireless charging, no sPen, no sd card slot, no dust proofing... I could go on. Compared to a phone like that it's not the worst deal.

I got my Note7 on a contract which would have ended up costing me a total of $550. Not a bad deal at all I thought.

Neither did I. I had the S7 Edge for a month while waiting for my 2nd Note7. I put it back in the box after 2 days and used my Note4 instead. The palm detection was horrible and I preferred the 16:9 photos at 16MP to be honest.

I am still waiting for February for the S8 info and I think we'll get enough leaks by then to know if a Note 8 is possible in 2017... but while waiting... I think the Xiaomi Mi Mix looks cool. Know it's not available in US but my daughter takes a field trip to China next February/March... so an option for me to have her get one for me is an option if the S8 doesn't impress... but I think it will.
