Battery issues

Hi all,

I got my Note 8 around three weeks ago, and it's been working wonderful. On the same night I got it, I also got the Samsung Fast Charging wireless charger, and it too worked wonderful. However, over the last week, my phone's been acting funky charging. For instance, using the stock wall charger it came with, it stops charging when it reaches 87 percent. It remains plugged in, but it doesn't charge past 87 percent. I have to unplug it, then plug it back in and only then does it charge for a percent or two then it stops again. It's kinda annoying and I don't know how to fix it. My battery doesn't last as long as it used to anymore so I'm forced to set it onto Medium Power saver mode so I can make it through the day and it only drops to about 60 percent; whereas, normally it would drop to about 20 at the end of my day.

As far as the wireless charger, my phone no longer charges on it. When I place my phone on it, I get the screen notification that says 'fast charging' yet it does not increase in charge, in fact, it actually drops if I leave it on it as if it's not even on the charger. My girlfriend has the S7 Active and her phone charges fast on the wireless charger, which means there's nothing wrong with the charger itself, but rather with my Note 8.

Any help?

Thanks in advance.

there's a couple of threads on this, mine included doesn't seem to affect a lot of people. My note 8 was doing the same thing on both of my wireless pads, so I called Samsung and got it replaced...

I have a similar problem. I have sent my phone to Samsung service twice but the problem is still persisting. I notice that the charging process will not be interuppted when the phone screen is on. Whenever the screen is off, the phone will only charge for a few second - to a minute then it will stops charging - the red/orange led will turns off as well.

I have to enable the developer mode and keep the "on screen while charging" option on and the phone will charge full 100%. You can try this method to see if it works or not on your phone.

I think the problem here is the firmware/software of note 8

I'm starting to think there's a general software issue in relation to charging through the cable port that can get corrupted by apps.
not only on note 8, S7 and S8 users have experienced various issues as well.
hopefully these small niggles are software issues

Have you tried charging your phone in safe mode? If it charges OK, then there is a software issue with one of the apps you added. If not, there is a problem with your hardware, either your phone, charger, or charging cable.

Most of us aren't having this problem, so I wouldn't settle for work around (keeping the display on with developer's mode, etc.)

Have you tried clearing the cache from the boot-up screen?
Turn off your phone, then press and hold the Power, Volume Up and Bixby button until the android robot and blue screen pops up, then select clear cache partition, and reboot

Sounds like I may have the same or similar issue: When I 1st got the N8, I set it on the Samsung OEM wireless charger. It seemed to charge ok at first, then the blue light started flashing after 2 or 3 minutes. I've tried case off, case on, "resetting" the phone in the charger.....nothing works. Now the blue light stays on like its charging but it isn't. I tried the free promotional wireless charger with the same results. My N8 charges fine on corded chargers. I thought I'd post about it here before I send it to AT&T or Samsung for repair/replace.
