MHL to HDMI adapter problem

I just received the HDMI adapter from HandHelditems.com. It was purchased through Amazon. The documentation clearly states that it works with the Skyrocket.
I hooked it up as per the instructions, including the separate power via the charger. The phone recognizes the charging function but there is no video signal.
Has anyone else got this to work?

I tried the adapter on a third tv and this time it would flash but no picture. I contacted the seller and they are sending me a replacement.

I received a replacement for free but the same thing happened as the first one.

I just bought a PNY branded mhl adapter and there is no picture with this one either.

Has anyone got the PNY one to work?

its not the adapter either because the same video flash on the tv is happening to me. its your tv thats unsopprting of the adapter.
