I have spent over an hour on the phone with T-Mobile and Samsung support and gotten nowhere so I will try with the knowledgeable people here.
When connected to a 5G network, my new S21 Ultra will not make calls with HD+ sound quality. During a 5G network call, the HD+ icon is not present on the call screen and looking at the Service Mode (*#0011#) invariably shows that the sound codec is "AMR:NB" which is the narrow band relatively low quality call sound. However, if I go into mobile network settings and put the phone in 4G network mode and call on a 4G network then calls do have the usual T-Mobile HD+ sound and icon present and the Service Mode shows the sound codec as "EVS:SWB", all as expected for HD+ call sound quality.
Any thoughts on what is going on with the missing HD+ call sound on 5G network? Does T-Mobile 5G, or any 5G, support HD+ call sound?
