Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean by syncing? If you log into the tablet with the same Google account that you use on your S3, the data that you sync to Google should sync onto the tablet. The contacts on the S3 would have to be associated with your Google account (rather than the Phone account or Samsung account)--this is one of the main benefits of saving contacts to Google. The same goes for Calendar events.

Any apps you've installed to your S3 from Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore can be easily installed to the tablet. Just go to the My Apps section of either store to see all of the apps you've purchased and installed on that account, and you can install the same apps on the new device. Actual app data (like saved games) won't necessarily sync over, unless that information is saved to the app's server
