Verizon Galaxy S5 finally ROOTED! !

I have started the root process and made it through the first root.bat, but it hung up on the reboot and now I can't get my computers to recognize my phone is plugged in to finish. So now I have a phone that won't start up at all and I can't get it to connect to a computer. I have installed the USB software multiple times, nothing has helped. Used a computer running Windows 8.1 and the tried 7. No luck on either. Any suggestions?

What stock Verizon firmware were you running when you attempted to root. Was it Lollipop, Android 5.0, or Marshmallow, Android 6.0.1?

Tried that, still hangs up on the start and will not let me get beyond that. Nor will my computer acknowledge that the phone is connected. I have uninstalled and re-installed the USB driver and changed to a newer cord. So far, no joy.

The only other option open to you is to do a Factory Reset in Recovery Mode to see if that will allow you to boot up. This will of course will wipe any user data on your phone. If that does not work, it will need a trip to the Verizon shop I am afraid.

Tried the factory reset and it still will not let my phone start up. I hope I don't have to go to Verizon. They are a two hour drive for me and I do not use Verizon's upgrades anyway. Can't with my current plan or I'll lose everything they grandfather'd in when everything changed.

The problem you are facing is that you have partially modified the phone and now it appears that it will not or cannot, connect via USB to your PC. This in turn precludes you from flashing the stock Verizon firmware, using the Odin PC suite. Try connecting to different USB ports on your PC, (not via a USB hub). Try a different PC. If you can connect, post back here for details of flashing.

I was able to reinstall the firmware using Odin. Not sure why it worked for that, but it did. Guess we'll save the rooting for another time. Thanks for the help.

I'm stuck in the "stuck in Samsung logo" state.

Wiping cache, starting with PB1 or OK3, the end is the same. The wheels fall off, apparently, when NK2 goes in. At the point where the expected "stuck" happens and SM-G900V doesn't show up in Windows Explorer, I pop the battery, go back to recovery (OEM, not TWRP, etc.) and clear the cache. After that, I reboot, plug in the cable. The only sign of life from the S5 is I see the "CD Drive" device show up. And the area around the CPU heats up. In the past, (prior to attempting to root) CD Drive shows up, goes away, and is replaced with SM-G900V. Now, after flashing NK2, all I see is CD Drive, no matter how long I wait.

What's up with that???

What's up is the freakin' how-to leaves out the little details that show how well things are going even though it may look as though the ****e has hit the fan. Ironass, you did a video of the process (shown earlier) that I wish I'd found three days ago. I want to pass that video on to some other folks, but darned if I can find it now. Of course.
