Hi

I have my earphones plugged into the phone - sound/ music pauses for a bit and can be heard on the earphones for one second, then continues to be played from the phone.

What can I do?

Thanks so much in advance for help.

Welcome to Android Central! Make sure the plug is in all the way--you should feel and/or hear a click when it's fully seated.

If that doesn't help, there could be some debris in the jack. Use a damp toothpick to root around, or a can of compressed air to blow it out.

Still occurs after a reboot?

Also, what kind of headphones are you using? Does this happen with any headphone? Are you using headphones specifically designed for iPhones? They don't always work right on Android, although it's unusual for the actual headphone part not to work--it's usually the mic or the remote controls.

I think I was editing my response when you responded, so check my previous post about trying other headphones.

Appreciate your patience, B Diddy.

I tried two pairs of earphones - the ones that came with the handset, as well as yurbuds. Both are Android compatible.

The only set that appears to work are my Jabra wireless sports earphones... which I think is so because it's bluetooth paired.

So embarrassing to have music blasting from the phone whilst one is in the train commuting... and have other passengers give me the Evil Eye.

How long have you had the phone? Have the headphones ever worked correctly? If not, then try to return it for an exchange or refund.

The headphones actually work after I reboot... but it is silly to keep rebooting in order for them to work (ie when I want to listen to music.)

I have had the phone for five days. Rawrrrr.

I would say exchange it. Bring it back to the store when you know you can reproduce the problem, and show them.

When I try to hear audio messages on snapchat (using a earpiece, both Bluetooth and wired) it switches to the phone call speaker, and the only way to make it go through the bluetooh/wired earpiece is to restar the device, someone know what to do? BTW it happens both on my pixel xl and on my older galaxy s6, both with the newest snapchat and android version..
