Consensus on best android tablet and/or match for S5?

There seems to be some consensus that the S5 is the best android phone, though I am sure some would disagree. Is there any similar consensus on tablets? Even if another android tablet was thought to be better, does it make sense for some reason to have a Samsung tablet if one has the S5?

If you want a tablet, get the Nexus 7
$230 new, good specs, clean software, and a good design

Well I would ask you what you want the tablet for
And I personally don't have much experience with any tablets other than the Nexus 7
The Samsung Galaxy tab s looks really good, and I'm not too sure about the Nexus 10. And of course, iPads.

Santa brought me the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition last Christmas. L.O.V.E it! Totally addicted to the S-pen. Perfect tablet size (for me). Bought my S5 in May. They compliment each other well but (I) sometimes find them so similar that I get confused by the subtle differences ("now which device does such-in-such?). I love both devices and both have their strong points. I'm happy to have both. I think I have the best tablet and the best phone ;)

I have the Galaxy Note 10.1 purchased in 2013 and the Galaxy Note pro 12.2 that I purchased a few months ago. Love them both but the 12.2 is awesome. Love the S pen, the speed, and the size which may be a negative for some people along with the price.

Thanks. It seems like having two Samsung devices is a plus?

I have the galaxy tab pro 10.1 and the S5. It's great having two samsung devices as everything is familiar and works just how you want it to. I recently bought a nexus 7 2013 as I wanted a smaller, more portable device. I thought getting another samsung device would be overkill. Anyhow whilst I like the nexus 7 I think I'd actually prefer to have a Samsung tablet so I think I'm going to replace it with the tab S 8.0.

Like I said, it depends on what you want it for. I'd like a tablet, but I don't have the money and/or use for it. That's why I don't have one (well the Nexus 7 is kinda mine, but I don't really use it)
Don't go drop $500 on a tablet just because you think you want one (unless you're rich of course)

I've got a Galaxy Note 8, and I love it. Had it with my iPhone, and it was the reason that I chose to get a Galaxy S5 phone. As many have said, I like the S-pen -- it's very handy for the not taking applications. I use the thing it work, and it replaces all the notebooks I used to have to carry around with me and keep track of. Dunno if they're even making them anymore, but I think you can still get them on Amazon.

I don't think there is really any benefit in having a Samsung tablet and smartphone unless you really like TouchWiz. The two don't magically sync between one another so it's not like having multiple Apple devices with a single Apple ID. Nope, get whichever tablet works best for you. Look at the features, performance, OS (and if it will be upgraded), and price. I ended up with a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 because I wanted a small tablet that I could use while laying down in bed. It just so happened to be a Samsung tablet as, at the time, it was going for $200 new at Best Buy. It came with Android 4.4.4, has a great screen, and it supports microSDXC cards. The battery life could be better but like I said, I was really only looking for something to use before I go to bed.

My primary tablet, and machine, is a Surface Pro 2 though. It doesn't slowdown or get buggy when I have more than one app running, the stylus is superb, and it runs any program that I want. Then again, it's in a different class of tablets and it runs Intel hardware. But the Pro 2 was a bit too heavy to use comfortably while laying down in bed. I know, I know. It's a first world problem but I don't care.

Either way, don't feel pressured into getting a Samsung tablet just because you have an S5. You can easily have just as good of an experience with a tablet from LG, Google, or a tablet running Windows. Actually, if WinBook had come out with their tablet when I wan on the market, I probably would have gone with that.

I agree it's nice to have the same brand of phone and tablet. I had an ipad and Samsung phone for a while and they don't really go well together. I don't want to get an iPhone do I decided to get an a Samsung tablet.

I bought each of my devices based on the technical specs, screen, removable SD cards, professional reviews, etc. They just both happen to be Samsung :)

I have the S5 and the Galaxy Tab 8.0..... absolutely love both. Sharing files and pictures between them is a breeze and I can do almost everything exactly the same on both.

Do you have a tablet now? Do you have an s5 now? Do you like what you have? I have an s4 and a nexus 7, the nexus is nice to be able to unlock and root and rom and tweak to the breaking point and reinstall as often as I want, the s4 fits in my pocket and makes calls. If you use non-manufacturer apps that support cloud sync, like Play Music, Gmail app, Dropbox, you put that app on whatever tablet you choose and it's the same, no matter who made the tablet. If you use Samsungs mail, and storage, and music (if they have such things) then you might have a reason to stick with Samsung.
