Question Looking for an Android tablet that wont show any icons whilst screen mirroring over USB/HDMI

Hi all, I've tried finding this out myself, but without any luck.

So, I need to mirror an android app to a TV over HDMI (for the increased stability over wireless screen sharing). The tablet will be used for data entry, and the TV to show what is displayed on the tablet in greater detail for others to see.

I have done this with the Honor tablet and Honor Fold phone I have, but with both, I get a screen sharing message/icon showing up whilst mirroring (not in the top bar, but hovering over part of the tablets display). I can't find a way to remove this, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a tablet that will mirror over HDMI and has the option to have a completely clean screen at the same time (ie. not notifications about the screen mirroring, whilst using the app I need to use).

Quite a specific issue, I know, but failing buying various tablets and testing them all out, I just can't find any info out there.

Note: Something with as close to a standard TVs aspect ration (to avoid letterboxing) would also be a massive plus!

Any help would be really, really appreciated!

Welcome to Android Central forums. Yes, this is quite specific. A few questions to help us understand this better.

Are you able to show us either a screenshot or a picture of the icon you're wanting to remove? Alternatively, I suppose you could just tell us what it says, or describe it somehow that helps us identify it?

I assume you're saying that it is present all of the time, even when other apps are open or other things are happening on screen, is this correct?

Is this only on the TV, when mirroring, or does it appear on both? If it appears on the device also, are you able to move or affect it in any way?

Without knowing much about the icon, what it represents, where it appears, if it can be moved, what app does it relate to, etc., it is tough to say if it can be removed. With both devices being Honor devices it could be something specific to Honor, in which case probably any other device that isn't of the same brand might work. But again we need to know what the icon is/says before we'll know. I tried looking up Honor screen mirroring icon and could not find anything that appeared to be specific to the Honor brand and most things I found just show the screen mirroring the phone screen as it appears, app icons and all.

The only two things I can think of that might work, without knowing the specifics of the icon, are changing the icon or creating a user profile on the device that does not feature any apps on the home screen.

For the former I was thinking you might be able to get an app like Shortcut Maker and create a clear/invisible icon. Some apps may have this ability to create an invisible icon or you might have to get an eraser app like Background Eraser to create your own "blank" image to use for the icon.

For the latter, I was thinking the difference between a work and personal profile on the device where you could set it up so that no icons are on the home screen for that profile. Based on your description I don't think this is what you're looking for but we'll know more once you've replied to the questions above.
