Why does my s5 keep notifying me of read emails?

I'll get a notification of "(pick a number) new emails. When I click, I see a preview of already read emails. How do I get my phone to stop dong this?

Which email app, the stock Email? Try going to the App Manager, select the email app, and Clear Cache.
