brand new galaxy S5 - soft keys (back) button doesn't work properly

as I said, brand new S5. the back button works normall on home screen (lighted up and makes "bloop" noise when touched) but when I go into an app, the light disappears and the back button no longer works normally. I have to press fairly hard,, then it works.

any ideas?
