I cannot get my Galaxy S6 active to turn off. What's the trick?

My phone died, I charged it. I'm trying to power off. I have pushed the button on the right side of the phone. I get a popup with Power Off, Airplane Mode, Restart, and Emergency mode. I press power off, and the receive a voice activated message to press "power off". I'm in a loop. Can anyone tell me how to get out of the loop?

Welcome to Android Central! Try pressing and holding Power and Vol Down for about 10-15 seconds--that should force a shutdown.
