Welcome to Android Central! You'd have to have a compatible Samsung Smart TV in order for the built-in wireless screen mirroring to work. Otherwise, you could get an MHL cable to connect the phone directly to the TV's HDMI port, or you could get a Chromecast.

I have the same question. I don't even see the option anywhere, I've gone through everything (I think). Where on the S6 should I look for that option?

I have a Samsung smart TV and I tried to connect my phone to it last night. A couple of things to consider:

1) is your TV connected to a WiFi network - the same as your phone?
2) download AllCast app from the playstore, this worked for me using the wireless network connection through WiFi.
3) when you swipe down on your notifications bar, select "quick connect" this will search for near by devices that it can connect to - I haven't tried this one yet, so I don't know what steps come next :)

I can mirror the S6 screen on the 2014 LG TV. Your TV must support Miracast for the native screen sharing. If it doesn't, the Chromecast is the best choice.

It really is a shame you can just use a hdmi adapter

I have amazon fire stick and once you find the screen sharing option in the menu it's a breeze. When you playback video on your s6 and select more in upper right then share, you will see the options for mirroring and and sharing at the bottom

Unless you have a Samsung smart tv, the cheapest option is a chromecast to MIRROR your entire phone screen.

However if you just want to play videos/pictures/music you can use the DLNA capabilities of your phone and smart tv. Use Samsungs own app, or download something Iike bubbleUpNp from the play store and it'll work.

Does the chromecast actually mirror your device like miracast does?

Miracast actually works without either the phone or the miracast device even having to be connected to a wireless network. They create the link (and maintain it) between themselves and traffic is not proxied via a router. It's built on the wifi direct technology I believe.
Amazon fire tv stick supports miracast. I don't think chromecast does.

Re: How to do screen mirroring from my Galaxy s6 to my polaroid

What kind of tv do you have (make and model)? Does it definitely support mirroring?

On your phone the easiest way I have found is to add a toggle to the quick settings (the little icons that appear when you swipe down from the top of the screen). You can edit the quick settings by swiping down and clicking "EDIT". Add the icon for "Screen Mirroring". This icon will now appear when you swipe down (you may also have to swipe right to see all the quick settings).
