I have the samsung s6, so I need to remove the case to charge the phone on the wireless charger

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6, do I need to remove the case to charge the phone on the wireless charger?

Re: I have the samsung s6, so I need to remove the case to charge the phone on the wireless charger

Depends on the charger. I don't with mine, and I would expect that by now most of the major cover brands would have provided for wireless charging. BTW mine is the Samsung cover.

I use about 6 different cases and never have to remove any of them to charge with my wireless chargers.

I don't need to remove my case.

What case do you have?

I have a otterbox commuter and the vzw wireless charger. i didn't need to remove the case to charge it until the last update now I do. Hope the next update will correct this issue.

I have the Defender and use the OEM wireless charging pad. Check out my YouTube video review of the Defender case on my YouTube channel, TheJCP006.

I have the Versus wallet case. It's inexpensive and I keep three cards in it which make it "thicker" than typical cases. I don't have to take my phone out of the case to charge on my wireless charger.

If you have to take it out of the case, I would look for another wireless charging pad.

or look for a different case ...

Re: I have the samsung s6, so I need to remove the case to charge the phone on the wireless charger

I use a Nokia charging pad from my last phone and never had to take my case off either phone.
However I dislike the fact that they don't charge face down so when the S6 lights up, i wake up.

EDIT: I know my wife used to have a metallic reflective case on her iphone and that gave her signal issues... Could a metallic case interfere with the charigng?

I've got about 3 or 4 different types of cases including a dual layer case and I have no problems with any of them. I'm using Samsung's wireless charger.

Why don't you just power it off and then put it on the charger?

Regardless of whether I use the wireless charging pad or rapid charger, I turn my device off, a throwback to my RIM days. The charging coils are in the back and would be farther away from the pad when placed faced down than between the case and the glass back

Do people turn their phones off anymore?
I cant actually remember the last time I turned mine off for a reasons other then to reset or repair it.
Not that anyone ever needs to contact me at 3am...

It's a personal choice. I do it as a kind of "refresh" every morning. My wife uses her phone as the alarm clock and pretty much everyone that would call me at odd hours should only be in an emergency.

Re: I have the samsung s6, so I need to remove the case to charge the phone on the wireless charger

I reboot my phone every couple of days, but I can't say that I ever just turn it off and leave it off for any real period of time.

I'm sure turning it off helps to charge it faster, but that also means that if someone tries to reach me, I'm inaccessible ... and that's not something I'm willing to give up. I'll wait the extra few minutes for my phone to charge up vs. turning it off to have it charge faster.

also, for night time, there IS the "do not disturb" mode if you want to make sure the phone doesn't ring, ding or buzz at you. And if you're worried about the screen turning on and bothering/waking you ... just put a small towel over it while it's charging on your bedside table.

I have an up-to-date VZW S6 with an OB Commuter and it charges fine.
