Hi, I think I found a way to play a YouTube video in background. I don't know how/if it works on other devices but here is my workaround:
- You need a pair of bluetooth headphones
Connect the headphones to the phone, start (play) a video on youtube, you should get a widget in the notification bar. Skip the video to the last 5-10 seconds and wait for the video to end. Now the widget will let you replay the video. Now you can press the home button, hit replay listen and do whatever else you want on the phone. I think that after the video ends the widget will disappear after 10 seconds or so.
It doesn't work with playlists or I don't know how to make it to.
I believe it works with any device connected for casting.
I find it useful when I want tot listen to a long mix or the same song over and over again.
I have an S6 in Europe with Marshmallow and the headphones are BlueBuds X1.
