Horrible Battery Life

So a few months in on my android after switching from iPhone. Love the phone but just can't get over the battery usage. I can't get over 12 hours.

I've searched and searched and basically turned off everything that I could find that someone recommended. Phones basically an old flipphone now, but battery still not seeming to be any better.

I'm burning through 2.5% per hour while sleeping this just doesn't seem right.

Any help please?

Welcome to Android Central! Is your phone rooted, or are you looking for root hacks to improve battery life? Just wondering if you intended to post in the Rooting forum.

In general, it would help to see some battery stats, since there are many factors that influence battery life. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

B. Diddy. Thanks for responding. I definitely did not mean to post in the rooted forum.
Here's the screenshots that you requested.

Can you show us the graph in GSam that shows cell signal strength? Poor signal can drain battery more quickly, and you don't have many bars in that screenshot.

Also, do you have Location set to High Accuracy (i.e., GPS, Wi-fi, and Mobile Networks)? If so, try changing it to Battery Saving (Wi-fi and Mobile only).

I moved the thread to the main S7 forum.

If you can live with a slightly slower phone, turn on power saving. I did that and the battery went from 10-12 hours to 2 days.

I don't even get 12 hours. It used to have great battery life and then it suddenly dropped off. Now I can almost watch the numbers drop. I have to charge it frequently, it won't make it through the work day. Never figured out why it suddenly did this.

With my S6 (running the Nougat OS) my estimated battery life is 18 hours which meets my needs. I suggest you go to the system battery settings and see what apps are using the most battery power. Facebook is notorious for polling constantly draining power. Also, if you are in a bad cell location your phone might be searching for cell towers and that can drain power.
