Deleted message keeps pinging notifications

I did a factory rest a few weeks ago at that time I set the old massages to auto delete. it created a conflict and some NEW messages were being deleted.

I was able to troubleshoot and figure out that the delete massages function was randomly malfunctioning when massaging other galaxy users. Since it's been disabled I no longer have missing massages BUT....

I keep getting a notification form one of the massages that had been erroneously deleted. so far I've deleted the massage thread with that contact and restarted the phone a few times.

Sometimes on restart I get a notification tone and said message shows in the task drawer but NOT in massages. other times if I leave a new massage from anyone unread the preview for the deleted message shows in the task drawer too. the message never reappears in the messaging app.

Any ideas how I can make it stop??

I am having the same problem. Verizon S7. Same 4 messages have been reappearing (as new messages). This began about 2 weeks ago, I think after an update.
