anyone do the EE VIP upgrade to get this?

I've been offered an upgrade on EE a year early to get the s8 or s8 plus. Just wondered if anyone had done it and if so what monthly price you got and how it worked out?

Looks like you hand in your old phone in effect to pay off your old contract then take out a new one. Looks like the new plans then include yearly upgrades so would be a way to upgrade each year but the tariff understandably looks expensive...
