play music in background via bluetooth to wireless speaker

I would like to play music via bluetooth to a wireless speaker. I can play the selected music to the speaker but my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.2 won't let me play the music in the background and also use the device for browsing internet or reading books. is there a setting I need to change in order to be able to do this?

Welcome to the forums.
Have you opened up the music player, started to stream it to your bluetooth device, then tried to hit Home? That should keep it playing and allow you to do other things.
