How to add entries for autocorrect

On other devices, I have the ability to add entries into the autocorrect or into the user custom dictionary so that I can type short 'words' like 'tvm' and then it autocorrects to 'Thank you very much!' I can't find the user dictionary or the autocorrect entries in this version of Android on the Samsung Galaxy Tab... Anyone know how I can accomplish this?

I don't see any place, particularly under General/Language-Input, to add or change any features.

SwiftKey keyboard it's better than stock too
