Screen just blanks out?

My screen just blanks out when I am using it. The screen will just black out and then I have to reenter my password to get started again. But trying :-[to get the screen to light up again may take several minutes . The frequency of this problem seems to be increasing.
Is there any solution or is it time for a new tablet?

Does it happen in Safe Mode as well? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28349. If so, I'd wonder about a faulty Power button that might be registering false presses intermittently.
