Android Central

A tech site makes a new version of their blog webpage and while doing so doesn't check or make sure their app will work with the new system? That just makes zero sense what so ever. Is the management that bad? On top of that besides reading about new phones etc the main attraction sometimes was reading the comments, and they took those away as well.

I don't think this was a mistake, if so they need new people running the show. More likely they did this on purpose.

I hope we get some official word if they decide to retire the app. I've used it for years and found it very helpful, every time I come to the website I find it difficult to find the news articles or anything else I'd want.

Hi chuckdawg,

The app has been retired and removed from the Google Play Store to prevent folks from further downloading it and running into issues with it. The best way to access the blogs at this point is through your browser. Apologies for the inconvenience.

So that's it, the app is done?

How ironic that Android Central no longer has an Android app, while Windows Central does.

Violates the number one rule of software development - test, test, test.

I refuse to open a browser to get my news here. It's a huge waste of time especially with the new format.

Just the Forum is available on it

Edit: its off the play store , you search and it doesn't come up .

I can still read articles on the blog page. It may not be updating, but the articles are still showing up

Just checked, the articles aren't refreshing with new content. This is sad. I always thought AC was the go-to authority for Android news

Im not sure , i don't use that app .

I absolutely hate the new site. The layout isn't fluid, looks like one big AD and can't (at least I can find) have a dark theme.

They've got new people running the show, and the fact they've been haemorrhaging talent should tell you something...

Yeah, the more I see of the main site the less I like it. It's also been going downhill content wise for a while. Started with many recycled articles that added nothing. Particularly, I noticed all the articles about the "imminent" release of the Pixel watch that repeated every 3-6 months for the last couple years. 99% of the article was the same as the previous. Now, most of the main articles seem little more than press releases or other information that you would find on a manufacturers' site. I've also not noticed any in depth reviews lately.

[Edit] Just saw the S22 review. Looks to be comprehensive and thorough. Well done.

Android Central app discontinued?

It hasn't updated in at least 12 days. Are you guys working on a new version, at least, or abandoning it?

[Merged you to site and feedback forums]

Its no longer available

An interesting point, which made me search for some other apps. Notably, popular sites like Android Police and 9to5Google don't have apps either, so it's not entirely unusual.

It isn't unusual, it was a weirdly unique feature. And now it's one less thing to distinguish AC from every other blog.
