Unresponsive lock button

So I'm not quite sure what happened, my phone was working a few hours earlier but now the lock button won't work. I've pulled the battery out and put it back in several times but the lock button still won't unlock the phone. The only way I can use my phone is if I pull the battery out, replace it, then unlock my phone as soon as it starts up. Once the phone goes to sleep I can wake it up again. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I really need access to my phone. I've had my phone since the day after it was released, is it still under warranty or something? There are also no sprint stores in my area that I could go to (college student without a car)

Call Sprint if there's no Sprint store close to you and They would probably send you a replacement ..
