Hi everyone I am new to this site.I just got my Atrix 4G coming from a BlackBerry I have many questions about the phone.
My first one being, how do I view the amount of RAM available that is free and not being used by apps which are running?
I also read that the android Os doesnt really close apps it just kills them if they use too much resources.I noticed many apps dont have a close or quit button can anyone chip in on this?
If I want to conserve battery power what are some good tips.
If I do an OTA Os update should I back up?

Well thanks hope someone will help out with these questions thanks ppl.

To view RAM and running apps..go to Settings > Applications >Manage Applications or Running Services.

Unlike the BB..you won't need to worry about what's running in the background generally..as this phone is actually up to date in technology..unlike you're BB. Overall..I wouldn't even personally worry about it.

As far as over the air updates..I'm not even sure you can do a backup without root..but I could be wrong.

As far as general battery life..this article has some good pointers

ok thanks man appreciate the help yea mainly I switched because I know these phones have way better multitasking abilities and such. Its good not to have to worry about no memory and battery pulls anymore.

I will read that article as well.Anyone have any advice on the extended battery out there for the atrix? how much more power is it really or do you only get a small etra amount of juice out of it?

to my knowledge there is no "extended battery" for the atrix; the battery we have ist he "extended" batter for the droid X (BH6), which is ~1800-1950 mAH.

FYI......there are a few apps that you should "close" to conserve battery. I have only noticed a few that stream audio will have an actual close button under their settings in the app, as in TuneIn Radio. I love that app but if you do not close it through it's settings, it will destroy your battery. Other audio apps like MLB and Pandora will turn themselves off if they are idle for a given time. Just check out the setting in each app when you first get it. Enjoy and welcome to Android.

Oh ok thanks.I dont really use any apps like that The only apps I downloaded so far was Fcaebook.I havent downloaded anything untill I can understand this Os good enough.I set up this thing that auto ends apps on my menu so this way apps dont stay open too long is this useful or should I download an app killer?
