Question New to Moto G7 problems

I drowned my S9+ and moved into a Moto G7. Having some problems. I can not delete photos without Google trying to gain access to my entire SD card. I killed the Google app. Now when I open my Gallery, I get: Update Google Photos. And, update now. Now can't do anything, not even view the photos. I need a way out of this, please. I have other problems but this first.

Welcome to Android Central! I believe Moto uses Google Photos as the default gallery app. You can always install a 3rd party gallery app like Simple Gallery Pro. Bear in mind that you probably have to pay a little to get the full app. I would also caution you about "free" gallery apps on the Play Store, since many of them will have annoying adware (or possibly worse).

FYI, I think any gallery app will need access to your SD card if it's going to manipulate any files.
