Atrix cannot remember Ringtones or Notifications

I have had the Atrix for a couple of weeks. My contacts come from syncing with Gmail. I understand how to assign a ringtone to a contact by going into contacts, clicking on the contact I want, menu, edit, additional info, assign ringtone.

I have made a folder called "ringtones" where all my ringtones live. No problem there, the phone sees everything.

When I plug the phone into the computer using the usb sync cable to add other misc files, the memory does its unmount thing and then when I unplug it mounts back. As soon as I unplug, all the ringtones I have assigned to various contacts now show as "unknown ringtone"

I have tried the ringtones folder on both the internal memory and the sd card, but same thing happens. Same thing also happens to my assigned notification ringtone that I have set for email and text alerts. After I unplug the sync cable, the assigned notification ringtone is forgotten. I have the notifications ringtones in a folder titled "notifications".

Any suggestions on how to keep the atrix from forgetting assigned ringtones and notifications? Phone is factory and has not been modified.

I was having an issue like this aswell, so i just made identical folders on my sd card and internal memorey, that way if one is unmounted or what ever it seems to keep the ring tones the way i had it set up.

it was super annoying to have it ring to a sound i never selected...

Thanks for the help. Did not work. I found that other people have had the same problem and it looks like it is the atrix or att. I am trying ringroid right now and so far so good.

Samething happened to me! I'm a little hesitant to plug my Atrix into my computer as the ringtones and notifications changed.

exactly the issue. phone no longer sees the sd card, reverts to default.

my guess is only $$$ att ringtones are 'stable' and not affected.
