Hello, all. This is my first stop here in the forums, and I'm hoping someone out there can allay my confusion about the 1/4" Headphone jack that Toshiba's web page says is on their new honeycomb tablet right next to a microphone jack.

I'm not an audio guy, and this may be a set of silly questions, but I am aware enough to know that my wife's new Optimus has a 3.5mm jack, and my own ancient cell has a 2.5mm jack. There's a 1/4" jack on my stereo, and I know you can get converters, but I'm not sure what I would need to do if I wanted to use a phone headset (preferably 3.5mm) with the tablet.

Do I need to buy some sort of converter that will allow the single 3.5mm headset connection to be split into two 1/4" connections, one for the headphone jack and one for the microphone jack? Is there such a product? I've searched, and none of the ones I can find seem to do that.

I suppose in the alternative I could use a bluetooth headset, a USB headset, a micro usb headset, or just splurge for a home stereo style headset that uses the right connections, but I'd like to be able to use the wired 3.5mm headset.

Is the choice of 1/4" jacks as odd as it seems to me, or are they superior in some way to the sizes I'm accustomed to? And how do I get my existing equipment to work with the 1/4" size?
