Question Problem with bluetooth audio codec, Redmi note 9 pro (joyeuse)

Hi guys,
I'm using a Redmi Note 9 pro (joyeuse) flashed with Xiaomi EU custom ROM and rooted

I bought new earbuds and I noticed I can't have my Bluetooth audio codec as anything but SBC, my new buds should support AAC like most devices

In developers options, I tried switching on HD Audio and switching to AAC or any other codec but it just switches back to SBC on its own, it's so frustrating, switching to AAC in Bluetooth settings doesn't work either

The same thing happened with the last Bluetooth headset I tried. It worked on my PC, and I somehow thought the headset was the problem. My new earbuds face the same issue, and I'm not sure what's causing it. I've used earbuds in the past, and my phone SHOULD have AAC support. Do you have any thoughts?

ROM: MIUI 12.5.2 xiaomu.eu custom ROM, Android 11

Seems to be a common problem. Some say to remove the Samsung buds app, yet others have had luck trying this.

I found the galaxy buds pro 2 didn't play nice with my pixel. So I switched to pixel buds pro. No issues since. Not saying you should switch to pixel buds just that maybe try another brand first. Samsung peripherals seem to work best with Samsung devices.
Just saying. The Xiaomi 6 buds pro run about $150 and get good reviews, that is if you can still return the Galaxy buds.
