10 reasons why IOS out does Android. Remember, I am just the messenger

On my EVO I can run scanner radio and pandora simultaneously, on my ipod the scanner app and pandora can not be run at the same time. Enough said!

Top 10 reasons why Android outdoes iOS (in no particular order)

1. Evo 4G
2. Atrix
3. Bionic
4. Thunderbolt
5. Charge
6. Nook Color
7. Optimus S
8. Nexus S 4G
9. Evo Shift 4G
10. Evo 3D

Even Woz carries a Droid.
I would agree with that ;)

As an owner of an iOS device (iPad), I laughed at most of this stuff. I can't stand it. Actually, I hate it. With a deep passion to be honest. Is it good at certain stuff? Of course. But overall, its beyond frustrating. And anyone that thinks iTunes is good should be shot in the foot and punched in the face. Its nothing short or horrid. The App store is equally frustrating. Example....

The App store has many categories. However, the layout of each category is different.

Now, you may think thats not a big deal. Which for some its not. But for me it is. Its annoying to navigate sometimes.. and not only that, but if thats how the android market was forget it people would be going ape ****. What REALLY pisses me off about the app store is this::

If you look at the pictures, you can see on the top right it says "Sort by: Release date". WELL... lets say you change that to most popular or name (the only two other options). Now after you select lets say Name... It will show you 12 per page (all categories are 12 per page btw). So now lets say youve tapped yourself to the apps that start with the letter M.. thats a LOT of pages (probably over 200 pages in). You find an app that you like. So you tap it... Turns out that you dont like it, so you go back.. Wait?! what happened? YUP.. dumps you RIGHT BACK TO PAGE 1 sorted by release date.... have fun going thru all 200+ pages again...

Now that doesn't happen all the time.. but it happens about 90% of the time. And let me tell you.. I want to punch babies every time. I only have about 20 apps on my iPad as a result. Because every time i want to search the app store I want to kill someone. Its the most frustrating thing Ive ever dealt with when it comes to my tech stuff. Nothing on Android comes even remotely close. Oo and the same thing happens if you decide to download that app. Because with the App store, when you select an app, it dumps you to the homescreens to show you its being downloaded to the homescreen o.O for what reason i dont know. But you have to go back to the app store and most of the time.... it dumps you to the very beginning of the category as in page 1 sorted by release date... yaaa..... the wonderful great app store ::rolls eyes::

Then theres the notification system. I would rather get punched in the face by Mike Tyson, wiat no.. id rather have a pissed off horse kick my in the nuts than deal with the notification system on iOS for one more day (which is why im selling it). Im so sick and tired of watching a youtube video or netflix video and having the feed stop because im getting a notification. Now yes, you can disable it. You can disable the popup and choose to either receive just a sound or nothing at all.. but wtf?! Why should I have to turn off something as important as notifications for me to enjoy one of the biggest reasons for tablets existing... multimedia....

Then theres flash. Let me make this clear. I apologize for offending anyone... Anyone that thinks that Flash isn't a big deal, or important, punch yourself in the face repeatedly. BEYOND tired of not being able to do things with flash. Because of flash being nonexistant on iOS, i've basically been limited to Facebook (which i still cant watch embedded videos i have to open youtube which is an issue in itself) and android central. Its pathetic.... I REFUSE to spend a single penny, let alone $10 for a browser so i can enjoy flash. and even then, its not embedded like true flash...

Then theres Youtube. Whoever is responsible of the Youtube app for the iPad should also be punched in the face... The search function is absolutely terrible. You have to be almost exactly spot on with what you're searching for. Then theres sharing... Not sure about you guys, but I share youtube videos often enough for it to be an issue... What i can't fathom.. what i cant wrap my head around is how the ONLY way to share a youtube video on the youtube app on the iPad.........................................

is thru email...

ya.. effing email..... no twitter, no facebook.. just email... O.O is apple serious? Or did they do this on purpose as a messed up joke to show how stupid and gullible iOS fanboys can be where they'll actually think thats acceptable on that type of device? There are SO many other things that are seriously wrong with iOS but im not gonna even waste my time. Ive already gone WAY more than I wanted to......

Rant over ..

PS **** IOS

Holy crap! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! Love it!

Bro you know you can go to top charts and switch categories there as another way to look through the app store, which is the best way. To me I love my iPad 2 it just feel right. And I love my evo shift to. I had a xoom and now I know why people say it felt rushed out. It really did I'm not taking night away from the xoom because the iPad had a year to grow with apps and stuff but man my browser crashed so many freaking time, it use to lag, had it actually freeze on me three times and etc,, I knew it was time to give it up. And your totally right on YouTube they need a new app for YouTube. Honestly it suckes big. Tme

So many good reasons here....I cant stand Apple and the way they do things.

Re: 10 reasons why IOS out does Android. Remember, I am just the

Wow. You know, I headed over to these forums to poke around because I have an iPhone 4 and will likely switch to something running Android when my contract with AT&T is up in a year (that's right -- I don't hate the iPhone and it's fine for now).

What? Why switch from the iPhone? Apple has made a great piece of hardware that does a lot of things absolutely right, but the iPhone is vulnerable for a number of reasons.

The first of these had to do with the hardware. The iPhone 4 hardware is fantastic, to be sure, but it's also more than a bit limited. With Apple, you are severely limited in terms of choice. There are those of us who believe that virtual keyboards are great if you have the hands of a nine-year-old girl. What if you want a QWERTY keyboard? With Apple, you're out of luck, but you do have a number of great Android-powered devices that offer those.

That's just one example, of course, but the point is made. That much choice, of course, can be problematic -- you know you'll get great hardware with Apple, but the Android shopper has to be a bit more careful. Case in point -- one of the very reasons I carry an iPhone is that the folks at the AT&T store talked me into a Sony-Ericcson Xperia X10. I returned that piece of garbage (easily one of the worst smartphones of 2010) to the store within a matter of days, growled at the salesperson who tried to talk me into another Android-powered device and grabbed an iPhone 4. In short, if you get an Android-powered device with rotten hardware, that might be enough to drive you to the Apple camp.

Ah, and then there's iTunes. Apple fans who have complained about bloated, buggy software from Windows need to hush as iTunes is one of the most cumbersome, counter-intuitive packages on the market. I've got to sync my iPhone through iTunes to put on a new album? I can't use my phone as a flash drive if I want to tote some files around without jailbreaking it and risking Apple's wrath? Seriously? Apple, quite simply, exerts too much control over the user's hardware, whereas the Android platform is considerably more flexible.

Apple's obsessive need to control what I do with my hardware has proven a major annoyance over the past year. Bear in mind that I've not committed the sin of jailbreaking (i.e., using the hardware I paid for as I want), yet I get nagged about IOS software updates (the last two of which seemed specifically designed to thwart those evil ole jailbreakers). The problem with the updates is that they are huge and unreliable -- so unreliable, in fact, that anyone who doesn't back up that phone completely before updating IOS is asking for trouble. Restoring the iPhone after an update screwed up the thing is more common that anyone but those of us who own iPhones might believe.

The misery doesn't end with iTunes, either. Ah, there's the app store. Need to update some apps? Better be patient -- the iPhone is slow to display them after notifying me I need to update some things. Searching through apps is a slow ordeal, as well. Installing them is slow, too, as the process seems to take forever even when going through a fast connection via WiFi.

And what happens should my battery go bad in this thing? The notion that one can't simply pop in a new battery is ridiculous, but that's how it is with the iPhone. Similarly, one would think in the year 2011 that slapping in an SD card would be easy enough. I've got a 16GB phone and probably won't fill it up. I'd better now -- Apple won't give me the freedom to expand that that through a simple, inexpensive SD card (knowing Apple, the company would probably develop some proprietary thing that nothing on the planet but an iPhone could use, anyway).

Speaking of what's expected these days, there's Flash. No Flash on the iPhone? What the heck? That's like buying a car without windshield wipers -- you might not miss them immediately, but you will need them one day.

Finally, it seems very strange to have this phone tied to my computer. Updates, syncing and other necessary activities must go through iTunes running on a computer (and it's got to be a Mac or Windows machine -- Linux fans are out in the cold unless they want to jump through a lot of hoops to get iTunes to work). There is no excuse for not putting out a device that can be maintained without being plugged into a computer. Strange.

Again, I do like my iPhone. Thank God, however, there is Android out there to give Apple some serious competition and users some choices. By next summer, I'm certain I'll have an Android with a convenient keyboard. The iPhone is a great device, but it's not the only thing on the market. Thank goodness for that -- competition may actually make both the Android and IOS platforms stronger.

If someone else writes it, how does that make you the "messenger"? It makes it sound more like "you read it, so it must be true kinda' dude" than anything else.

Hey genius, if someone writes a note and gives it to me to deliver to a third party, am I not the messenger?
Ever heard of a messenger service?

Why are you guys still complaining about this? This article is obsolete. Android can do all those things in the article except for itunes crap and geek bar. I can't count the times that friends and people I know say they love my evo 3d and android and wished their ios had all the features android has.

Don't forget about flash. Jobs says all sorts of bad things about it. Some of it true, 3 years ago. But the truth is it would compete with iTunes. Why buy a game or app from iTunes if the same thing is available for free on a flash site?

There are less free good apps on iTunes because of how apple charges the developers.

Control, apple is power hungry. Did you know there is really only one browser on any IOS device? apples. All browsers have to be based off Apples Brower. Which makes most of the 3rd party browsers nothing more then a skin over the stock browser. Ever wonder why skyfire for IOS does not run flash when all other versions do? Even the old windows mobile 5 version of Skyfire did. Android versions did before flash was released for Android.
