So I have a couple of questions about how the S10 + handles charging...

Will keeping the S10+ at 100 % while still plugged in shorten the lifespan of the battery or device itself?

Will frequently connecting the S10+ to a charger shorten the life span of the battery or device?

So far I have read many conflicting opinions and thoughts on the subject, and I would simply like everyone's opinion on the subject.

Typically I am the type of person that plugs my phone in at night before I go to bed and then take it off of the charger just before I leave the house .

Additionally, if it is a work day, I typically plug my phone into a charger at my desk and unplug it only when I leave my desk for extended periods of time or at the end of the day.

Also when I drive to work or anywhere else, I plug my phone into my car charger. Mostly because I typically use Google Maps when I am driving, even if I know where I am going because of the realtime traffic information, which tends to us a lot of power.

The reason I am typically so fanicatical about plugging my phone into a charger every chance I get, so that over my history of owning smartphones, I typically only get a maximum of 6 to 8 hours or less on a single charge with moderate usage. And over the years it doesn't seem to matter what make or model of smartphone.

My personal battery usage is 5% to 100 and then use the phone , it will last anywhere from a day with heavy use which is normal for me or 2 days with light-medium use. You can go into medium power mode if you think your not getting enough battery but expect notifications delay ,not as bright screen, couple other settings tweak to save battery but nothing that will be crazy deal breaker.

I killed a battery in less than 6months doing just that. Yes, holding it at a high charge level will shorten the lifespan of the battery, but will not hurt the rest of the phone. This site is pretty much the go to place for battery info.

For phones, the general recommendation is keeping the battery between 40-80%. Other factors do play into that, such as availability of a charger, usage habits, or even how long you plan to keep a phone. That's why you often see conflicting info. For example, someone that trades phones often may not care at all about the battery. Someone that wants to keep it a long time and does a lot of gaming would want to be more strict with the guidelines. So learn what works best, then apply it to your situation as needed.

What's the life span of a lithium battery in cell phone? Like cars the battery wont go past 3 to 5 years before replaceme that's maximum. I would assume the phone battery is 2 years then replace, sure maybe you can go another year but 2 year mark should be replaced regardless.

It all depends on your usage.

Stop worrying, enjoy life!

My charging pattern is pretty similar to yours. The reason I like to keep it charged is because I never know when I am going to get called away to a location without electricity or charging ability. When the zombie apocalypse hits, I want to have as much charge as possible. LOL!

I always try to maintain the approx 40-80 rule of thumb. I also never fast charge or wireless charge.

I don't see any of these concerns as exclusive to the S10. I only follow two rules that make sense to me without an real science involved. I try not to go below 25 percent and I avoid completely draining my phone to the best of my ability. I'm better at the second rule than the first.
